Perry Twins: How did you get started in the music industry?

Jennifer Carbonell: I have been singing as far back as I can remember, but professionally my first commercial release was with Miami based producers Murk... aka The Funky Green dogs. They called me up, and asked me if I would like to lay down a vocal on the last track of their album titled .... Doesn't Really Matter ... that track would later be released on Tommy Boy Records. It made #6 on the Billboard club charts , and was also featured on one of the Queer as Folk compilations.

PT: We love that track! We still play it often. What inspires you to create music?

JC: A really funky amazing beat, with a dark, and moody vibe. Love inspires me..with a bit of drama attached as well..haha

PT: Who are some of your favorite musical artists?

JC: All I can say is my Ipod is sick!!! I have all bases covered from Fleetwood Mac- Pink Floyd..to Bob Marley..Phylis Hyman, Earth Wind and Fire & Mark Anthony- Pit Bull.. to the Perry Twins of course!!

PT: Ha! If you could sing a duet with any other singer, which singer would it be with and why?

JC: Well the old school side of me would say that James Brown... may he rest in piece... would be some one that I would have loved to have been on stage with.....because he was the epitome of funk...the God Father of soul!!!!! His Music is timeless!! and currently I would have to say that George Michael would be the artist that I would absolutely love to collab with.. ... I love his voice!! His music is sexy, and soulful just the way I like it. Very Dance..Pop..and R&B at the same time.

PT: Where can your fans see you next?

JC: In March I will be at the WMC in my hometown of Miami, Florida. I will be attending several parties and appearing at the panels...So I am sure I will run into everyone there at some point.

PT: What projects are you currently working on?

JC: I have a single out right now titled Broken Pieces that has made the billboard hot air play dance charts and is currently doing very well for me..I have remixes from some of the hottest producers like legendary ... Kenny Dope...Tom Stephan....Friscia & Lamboy... and Jerry Perero. I am working on my next hot single to follow up with Broken Pieces...wait till you here whats up next!!! I am changing it up a little bit.

Perry Twins: How did you get started as a DJ?

DJ JST: I think it started actually when I was 5, and my parents gave me the best gift that I could possibly imagine, a violin. I feel so fortunate for having parents who sought out a way for me to seek my creative potential at such an early age. From that point on music just become a part of me. I continued on with the violin and went to the University of Michigan’s School of Music to study Electronic Music Composition. It was also at that time, that I really got into dance music. But after school, I opted for the financially stable route and got into Information Technology, and left my many years of music training behind. I eventually got tired of living the average 9-5 life, and really needed to get back into music. The whole DJ thing seemed like a marketable path for me to take. So in 2004, I just went out one day and bought the equipment. It was very much like practicing the violin, and with my ear for music, I was able to learn how to beat match in just a few months. From that point, I just used my local network to find house parties that wanted a DJ and to local venues who would give a new guy a chance. In other words, one thing led to another and I was at the right place at the right time. The best advice I have for someone is to work hard, stay creative, maintain a positive attitude, be a genuine person, and follow your heart. Eventually all the little details will work themselves out.

Perry Twins: What are your favorite current songs to spin?

Perry Twins: What are some of your favorite classics?

DJ JST: Robin S – Show Me Love: This is an ultimate classic, and I was thrilled to see new mixes of this track last year.
Faithless – Insomnia: This band is a true pioneer of dance. Ahead of their time for sure.
Ce Ce Peniston – Finally: Everyone knows this song. It goes without saying.
Reina – No One’s Gonna Change You: A great track to end the night.

Perry Twins: Do you have a favorite DJ gig?

DJ JST: There’s nothing like a good ole fashion block party, when the weather is warm and everyone is happy to be out having a good time. My favorite recent event was the closing party for the Gay Softball World Series in Seattle. I had an absolute blast. I love going to that city.

Perry Twins: Where do you see the future of dance music headed?

DJ JST: Dance music is unique in that its success is very much tied to the club scene, which has been dying a slow death all across America over the course of several years and well, the situation is never going to improve unless club owners, promoters, DJ’s, producers, performers, and entertainment managers really start working together on a long term vision. At this point it is all about getting creative and bringing something unique to the table. This is why I (along with a handful of other DJs) like to perform my set on a stage and not tucked away in a dark booth. It’s psychological. If the DJ has a ton of energy and is having a good time, then so does the crowd. And it is this energy, which draws people to the club, and keeps them coming back for more. Live vocal performances are also extremely effective. I will often do my set with a singer that I have been working with. As long as we keep things fresh, the dance music industry will rebound and become better than ever. I am just happy to do my part.

Perry Twins: Tell us about the process of creating "Rejoice".

DJ JST: It was an amazing experience. Bill Friar wrote the lyrics and passed them off to Amber Dirks. She worked with Bill on a melody and recorded her vocals and sent them over to me via the Internet. I was so blown away by the power of her vocals that I was immediately able to dive in and start producing the music. The synergy between her vocals and my musical style just clicked, and so did the passion behind the individuals involved. I can not be more pleased about how the track turned out and how pleased I was with all of the remixes that we received

Perry Twins: What are you currently working on?

DJ JST: I am in the studio a lot these days. I’ve got quite a few projects on my plate, but I like to keep them confidential until right before they are released. However I can mention two of the projects we will be releasing soon. I am working with Amber Dirks on a follow up to “Rejoice” called “Standing Up”, and I am collaborating with Jacinta on a song called “Peace Be With You”.

Perry Twins: Awesome! Where can we see you DJ next in the upcoming months?

DJ JST: I have my regular residency at 28 Degrees in Boston, and my management is currently working on several opportunities for spring and summer. I prefer to spin when the weather is warm and I produce in the fall and winter.

Perry Twins: How did you first get involved with music professionally?

Judy Torres: I was introduced to Mickey Garcia by my first manager, George Vascones. I auditioned for him as he was looking for a singer for his music. It was then I was offered a song called "Love's Gonna Get Ya". Another one of his artists was given a song called "No Reason to Cry." She didn't like her song, and therefore, we switched. Almost a year later, "No Reason to Cry" finally hit the radio waves, thus beginning my career professionally.

PT: How do you feel the business has changed since you started out?

JT: The business of music never changes but changes all the same. Some of the politics are the same, but also there are many other resources available to those who want to be discovered that were non-existent 20 years ago.

PT: Has what you learned from being an on-air personality on NYC's WKTU influenced how you now approach writing and recording?

JT: I don't think my experience as an on-air personality influenced my writing and recording at all. I believe in writing from the heart. Of course I do admit, however, that whenever I record something now, I find myself asking, "Will this song get on the radio?" It is a goal to definitely strive for!

PT: Your new single,"Hell No," was written as a result of a domestic violence situation that your younger sister had gone through. Are your songs always written about personal experiences?

JT: The best songs written are from personal experiences because if you can communicate honestly how you feel, you will hopefully evoke a real reaction from the listeners. You ultimately want to provoke an emotional reaction with your fans. It is impossible to do that if you did not begin in an honest place.

PT: Who are some of your musical influences?

JT: My musical influences are (believe it or not) Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Heather Headley and Linda Eder.

PT: What can currently be found on your iPod?

JT: All of the above mentioned artists, Michael Buble, Pink, Deborah Cox, Christina Aguilera, Limp Bizkit, Evanescence and much, much, much more!

PT: Where can your fans see you perform next?

JT: I will be at the Roxy on February 12th, in Orlando, Florida. Also Friday, April 3rd at the Canal Room in New York City - a concert with a band, benefiting the National Domestic Violence Hotline Organization.

Jeffrey Sanker Article In Noize Magazine

Ask any party boy to name the top promoters on the scene, and the name Jeffrey Sanker will be at the top of the list. His career spans three decades starting with the New York club scene during the halcyon days of Studio 54. His parties happen in the country’s hottest hot spots—Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Miami and Las Vegas. He’s also brought some of the Circuit’s best-known DJs to parties during Gay Days in Orlando. The super-producer known simply as “The Man” has consistently come up with the baddest parties for the fiercest crowd.

How does he do it? According to Sanker, “You have to make everything like a show. That is why I feel I am more of an impresario than a promoter.” It also means keeping up with the changes in nightlife.

Sanker is perhaps best known for White Party Palm Springs, which has long held the crown of largest gay dance event west of the Mississippi. More recently, he has been extending his brand into some of the hottest clubs in L.A. Every month a new party seems to crop up with “Jeffrey Sanker presents” emblazoned on top of it. But these are not your uncle’s Circuit-style parties. He might add some décor, and he always has the top DJs at the turntables, but he has realized that the younger party boys are self-lubricating with that old standby, alcohol.

The music is hip-hop and pop, the dance floors are smaller, and there are “chill” spaces where the city’s A-list can see and be seen. The focus has shifted from a night of sweaty dancing to an evening being with your friends and making new ones. In fact, at one recent event, the dance floor was filled—but no one was dancing. Instead, the boys were just holding the latest trendy martini and chatting each other up. Shirts firmly remained on torsos.
A lot of the Sanker “magic touch” can be attributed to the perception that if his name is on the event, you’re guaranteed a fun, sexy crowd (shirts on or off). One relatively new event, Fresh Fridays at WeHo’s Eleven Lounge, has a line down the block each week. “I create Donald Trump-style events,” Sanker said in a recent interview. “I want to give only the best of everything: the best DJs, venues, performers and themes. That is why they keep coming back.”

Sanker’s signature event, White Party, is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. Sanker points out that drink sales have gone up 25% in the past few years, but he likes to keep this one Old School. Each event is in a “big room” where the focus is on serious dancing, performances, and connecting with the crowd. For the twentieth anniversary, he is planning an over-the-top event. However, despite having big-name headliners like J-Lo and Toni Braxton in the past, do not expect the usual rumor mill of who might be the special performer this year. He is done with that.

“If you want to see Cher, go to Vegas,” Sanker quipped. (He’s been there with a roadshow White Party in the 24-hour town.) This year, he is focusing on bringing big, innovative shows to Palm Springs that will blow the crowd away, without any of the anticipation (or drama) of an unannounced diva showing up—or not. He was the first to add Cirque du Soleil-type performances to dance events. Previous years have included the L.A. Philharmonic backing up Flava; live horses; acrobats; and insane pyrotechnics. No matter what he comes up with, you know it will be exciting—even without one of those big-name (and big-maned) divas.

DJ-wise he is also mixing it up. This year, he’s going international by importing Oscar Velasquez from Mexico City for Friday night and Ana Paula from Rio closing the main event. He’s also nurturing the hottest young DJs on the scene such as the Perry Twins, Casey Alva and Morningstar. The theme for this year’s White Party is “Legion of Superheroes.” To keep with that theme, each event is set up “dynamic duo” style. Every party will have a known DJ along with a fresh face as the sidekick to give the boys a feel for tomorrow’s headliners.

Looking Back & Ahead

Surprisingly, Sanker got the idea to do a dance event in Palm Springs from the lesbian community. In 1987, he felt the New York club scene was moribund. So he moved to Los Angeles, where he initiated a string of successful parties and clubs. His first event at the Palace (now Avalon) brought in 1,800 guys. Based on that success, he was invited to check out The Dinah Shore Weekend, a party for the gals in the Desert during the Dinah Shore Golf Tournament.

When he saw the main event consisted of four speakers and a few balloons, he knew he could do better. His first event was called Wet and Wild and attracted 500 guys. One DJ, Manny Lehman, played all the parties. A year later he changed the name to White Party and its popularity exploded. Today, nearly 20,000 people descend on the town during White Party Week. It takes over 300 workers and $1 million to produce this marathon of dance and camaraderie.

When asked about the future of the gay dance scene, Sanker would like to remind the new generation that the gay community has always danced. Dance has been an important element of socializing and feeling a sense of community. He hopes that with themes younger boys can relate to and their favorite DJs, he can continue to attract them to a big event like White Party. Once there, he feels they will embrace and understand our communal need to dance and will propel the scene into the future.

So what if some of the older Circuit boys are doing cruises rather than parties these days? Or that the younger generation is restlessly looking for something different? Sanker has continued to be successful in creating the best club and party experience possible—and that’s what he intends to do, wherever the prevailing winds blow. By doing so he keeps reminding us of our need to connect in the place that has always been an integral part of the gay experience: the dance floor.

Perry Twins: How did you get started as a DJ?

Oren Nizri: I started my DJ career in 1998. I worked as a
radio DJ in Tel Aviv, Israel, in the city's hottest radio
station of that time, "The Voice of Tel Aviv." I hosted
my own bi-weekly program called "In My House" that was
dedicated to house music.My show was a big success, and
it opened the doors for me to spin in some of the most
renowned nightclubs and music festivals in Israel and
Europe. I have amazing memories of my radio show. That
made the beginning of my professional career,
and it could have not been a better start!

PT: We love Razor & Guido's mixes! Do you have a
favorite DJ gig?

ON: To me, all my gigs are important and special. I feel
blessed that there are many parties that I have played,
that have given me a lot of satisfaction and fantastic
memories. What I can tell you is that currently, I am
having a blast at my weekly residency at Living Room
Nightclub in Fort Lauderdale, at the "Liquid Fridays"
party. http://www.livingroomnightclub.com/ Living Room is a
multi million dollar venue, and right now, it produces the
biggest weekly party in South Florida. The energy of the
crowd and the concept of the Friday night party overall
is revolutionary and simply amazing. "Liquid Fridays"
has built a fantastic and very loyal following and people 
from all over South Florida just love to come and party
at the venue every week.

PT: Where do you see the future of dance music headed?

ON: I think that dance music is been stuck for the past
few years with lack of originality, that has lead to a
lot of remakes and cover songs that have not had a very
good production value. I just hope that all of us who are
involved with the music industry these days can make efforts
to change that, to make quality productions that have fresh
beats and a brand new vibe and flavor to dance music
in the next couple of years.

PT: What are you currently working on?

ON: Some remixing projects, and especially, one of the goals
for 2009 for my company Give Me A Beat Productions and my
manager George Coronado is to continue bringing my music to
other cities around the United States and internationally as
well, for me to continue to earn the national and
international recognition as a DJ. We have started 2009
very well and the year is getting line-up very nicely, we
have a very exciting year ahead of us!

PT: We were excited to recently be at your Los Angeles debut.
How was the experience of dj'ing at Fresh/Eleven for you?

ON: I had a great time at the Fresh party at Eleven in LA.
The crowd responded extremely well to my set and I appreciate
all the positive feedback that I got after my performance.
It was a very busy night and a lot of fun! Thank you to
Jeffrey Sanker, Paul Nicholls and Casey, for the hospitality
thought out the weekend that I was in town.

PT:  Glad you had a great time!  Jeffrey and Paul definitely
put on fun parties! Where can we see you DJ next in the
upcoming months?

ON: I will be spinning the UNITY party during Winter Party
Festival at the end of February. I'll also be headlining
the PrideFest of the Palm Beaches in West Palm
Beach at the end of March, and we are finalizing dates
in different cities around the USA as we speak. I will be
coming back to Fire Island, Atlanta, Washington DC, Boston,
etc, etc, and even South America and my country Israel will
be part of the schedule. I would like to take this
opportunity to thank the loyal partygoers who come to my
parties and who follow my music, and to the press in
general, for the continuous coverage that you have given my
shows. Thank you so much for the endless support. And thank

Interview with Sandy Zacky

Perry Twins: When did you first start singing and had you always known that you wanted to pursue music professionally?

Sandy Zacky: I’ve always been singing since I was a little kid, and I sounded pretty pleasant at the time, at least I thought so (laughs) What I did not realize then, is I thought singing was something everyone could do.

My Mother had an absolutely beautiful voice, so to me it was a natural thing for people to do. My Grandmother asked me to sing for her once, because my Mother kept saying: “Sandy sings really well.” I was eight and didn’t want to, but I sang, I don’t remember what; probably The Star Spangled Banner (laughs) My Grandmother was so impressed she wanted to hook me up with a bunch of talent agents. My Mother did not want that to happen, so it didn’t (laughs) Singing is something I love and I have been doing it all my life, I like putting a smile on people’s faces and making them happy.

I pursued a music career professionally after graduating and met the man I was going to marry and put it on the back burner to raise a family. I kept performing around town and at charity events, but my focus was my family. My family is my life; music is my soul.

PT: Many singers would be envious of the fact that you were mentored by Sam Cooke. What was the experience like for you?

SZ: I met Sam Cooke when I was 17 or 18 years old, I was right out of High School. My brother had met him, I am not sure how he hooked up with him, but he did.

My brother brought me in to a big tall office building right on Hollywood Blvd. to meet him. Sam was just a delight, a tremendous gentleman, who listened to me sing and he was really impressed with how young I was and what I could do vocally.

He told me to hang in there; he encouraged me tremendously and gave me some ideas for my future in the music business. Where I could go, what kind of music I should do - he was incredibly helpful. The association was unfortunately cut sho rt because Sam was killed, but to have had any kind of relation with the kind of man Sam Cooke was and the icon that he is, is something I will never forget and always treasure.

PT: The list of Los Angeles clubs at which you have performed is quite impressive. Are there any appearances of yours which stand out as being your favorites?

SZ: When I got back into music one of my favorites was the Rose Tattoo. At first I started doing showcases there, then I started getting hired to do shows on my own. I did tons of shows at the Rose Tattoo, the club no longer exists but it used to be over on Roberson in West Hollywood at Studio One (now The Factory).

I am proud to say the most loyal fans I had were the gays. They would be there for every show I did, they were always sold out! The Gay fans were loving, adorable - They made me feel like 20 Million Bucks! I was going to say a Million but with inflation (laughs).

PT: How do you feel the music business has changed since you first started performing?

SZ: I love it, I embrace it! I want to emphasize this, there are suits out there who make decisions on what types of music will work or won’t work, you know what? Bull crap! That is the only phrase I could think of right now (laughs)

What I think the Internet has done is it has embraced everyone. There are no separations of age, musical style - we all become one. This is not meant to be corny, it is meant to be real, you listen to a sound, I don’t care if you are 18 or 80, and you like it, it does not matter who is performing it. If you love it, you embrace it. No one should be in charge and tell anyone what they “can’t do.”

I would like to add that because of the Internet that I am so proud of the fact that young people have embraced and loved our music.

PT: What CDs do you have for sale and where can they be purchased?

SZ: You can purchase my 3 CD’s “Love is Everything” with my incredible singing partner Mike Clifford, “Sandy’s Solos” & “One Olive or Two” at CD Baby, Itunes and they carry “Love is Everything” & “One Olive or Two” at Dorothy’s Surrender in the French Market, West Hollywood, CA.

PT: Do you have an all time favorite song that you love to sing live?

SZ: I love all the songs I sing, but there is one song that is in my heart. When I was 16 my Mother had major surgery, just before that surgery she saw the movie “Carousel” in that show was a song called “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

To my Mom that song meant everything and when she was recuperating I would sit by her bed and sing it to her. When she passed on in 1980 I have on her headstone: “We will never walk alone we’ll always be beside you.” That is the number one song for me of everything I have sang.

PT: What can fans expect from your upcoming Valentine's show?

SZ: It is at Vitello’s in Studio City, CA - it is a very special show with my singing partner Mike Clifford, and I would love you all to come and see it. Mike and I are doing our show with some phenomenal musicians; I am so proud and happy to be out there doing my thing. It’s a great Valentine’s Day package so take the one you love or even like a little bit, we’re going to have a great time!

Perry Twins: Ranny, how did you first get invloved in DJ'ing?

Ranny: I've always been into music and started going out to clubs when I was 11 (in Brazil), but only later on, in 2000, I decided to act on this hobby by making mash ups on my computer and posting them online. All of a sudden I started getting a lot of great feedback from DJs from all over saying they were playing them, which made me very happy. That's when I decided to take it to the next level and started making my own mixes, and shortly after that people started inquiring for gigs. I had DJ equipment and learned how to mix on my own with the occasional help of professional DJs.

PT: What are your favorite current songs to spin?

Ranny: I love remixed pop songs, and Beyonce's "Single Ladies" is really doing it for me now. Britney's "Circus" is also on heavy rotation, as well as pretty much anything by Lady Gaga. I am also really into tracks like "You used to Hold Me" by D.O.N.S., "Broken Pieces" by Friscia & Lamboy/ Jennifer Carbonell and Joey Negro's "Must Be The Music".

PT: Very cool. What are some of your favorite classics?

Ranny: Oh, I love to throw some classics into my sets, and I even remixed some ("Better Off Alone", "You Used to Hold Me"). I absolutely love Angelina's "Release Me" and "I Don't Need Your Love", "Show Me Love" by Robin S. and Fragma's "Toca's Miracle". I could go on and on with the list... Alex Gaudino feat. Crystal Waters - "Destination Unknown". I also get request for my mix of "Bob Sinclar's "Sound of Freedom", with the famous "Everybody's Free" sample by Rozalla.

PT: Love those songs! Do you have a favorite DJ gig thatyou have done?

Ranny: I am very lucky to have had many great gigs, so it's really hard for me to pick one. Karmabeat in Mexico City was very memorable and every time I play at Bubu Lounge in Sao Paulo I have a fenomenal time. Playing in Brazil and Mexico are amazing experiences, and I never get tired of it, but I absolutely love my monthly residency at the Roxy. People are already familiar with the high energy of my sets in Boston, so they come prepared and bring their best vibe to the club. I have also played a couple of times at G.Bar in Tampa and love it!

PT: Where do you see the future of dance music headed?

Ranny: That is a tricky question... Electro refreshed Dance music in a new and exciting way, and it is very in right now. Every now and then a new producer comes out with a fresh new sound and revitalizes the genre over and over again, and we gotta be very thankful for that. I don't know what the future holds, really, but House Music has had its ups and downs throughout the years, and it has survived all the different trends of the industry, so I'm not really worried about that. It's NOT dead.

PT: Tell us about the process of creating and releasing "Epic".

Ranny: I had worked with Rachel on "It's Got to Be Love" and "Repeat Performance", and called her up and asked her if she would be interested in doing a club track. I was very happy when she agreed because I just love her voice. I also wanted people to hear the diva side of her. She definitely brought it big room anthem style, and vocals like that are a great instrument to any remixer.

We were also thinking outside the box, and wanted to bring some up-and-coming remixers to the table. I have some very talented friends in Latin and South America who I thought would compliment the project very well. They aren't very well know here in the States but it was all about the music, and their productions just speak for themselves. Oh, and I am also very grateful to have had Manny Lehman on board of this project. I love his mix!!!

PT: What are you currently working on?

Ranny: I recently did a mix of Britney's "Circus" and D.O.N.S's "You Used to Hold Me" (a remake of the Ralphi Rosario Classic), and just finished working on tracks for Ceevox, Jeanie Tracy, Denis Cialella/John Feelgood and Jipsta. I don't know when those will be released yet...

PT: Can't wait! Where can we see you DJ next in the upcoming months?

Ranny: I will be at the Roxy this Saturday, Jan. 31st and will get on a plane to Brazil the very next day (where I will be touring). Then I come back for the Carnival party at The Roxy on February 21st. I will also be at Town in DC on April 25th.

Perry Twins: Things seem to be really moving in your world since we last hung out at the Reality Cares event this summer. Your new single "Worked Up!" is doing extremely well in the UK, with the song having a second life on the club charts after originally peaking at number 8. How does lightning strike twice?

Brian Anthony: Lots of hard work, I guess. Luck, too. I'm very grateful for the attention the project has garnered.The KINKY ROLAND REMIXES are up now at the MUSIC WEEK UPFRONT CHART. I am goingto bundle them on iTunes as ALBUM ONLY CUTS when you purchase my new charity Christmas song,"One Wish (This Christmas Time)".

PT: We love Christmas tunes. Tell us more about it!

BA: I basically wrote the song awhile back and it's about the war, the state of the world, this time of struggle and change. I was and am concerned about where the world was going and how we've ultimately gotten ourselves into so much trouble - the world is in bad shape, literally, figuratively, spiritually. It's just my small contribution to put out a positive energy in the universe to kind of tug at people's heart strings and make people count their blessings, reach inside to reach out to others despite our differences, and to try to focus on undoing the damage that's been created and working our way back to a WORLD where tolerance, peace, hope, and unity can connect the all of us and bring us to a more positive planet. It's always been my intention to use my music to help others, raise consciousness, and inspire greatness in others. And this year, with the recession, the war, job loss, and families effected by the war who are missing their loved ones - is as good as a time as any to contribute in a positive way. PT: Beautiful! Which charities will this song be supporting?

But you guys are welcome to do a "CHILLAX" mix of it for me if you want!

PT: You have a great remix package for "Worked Up!" and it got even better with the newly added Kinky Roland mix. How did you decide on remixers?

BA: They were suggested to
me by my team in the UK. I checked them out and basically started doing back flips because their productions were amazing and I knew they were the right fit for the project. So talented.

PT: How have you managed to work your music to Europe and the US so well simultaneously?

BA: Once again, lots of hard work. I have a great team in place. I could never do any of this without their belief in me and their support. Also, the support of the dance community and the fans for spreading awareness of the single and remixes. Without them, none of thesuccess I'm seeing could ever be possible. THANKS EVERYONE!
The music video for "Worked Up!" is pretty impressive with lots of fun dance moves.

PT: We spy the lovely Natalie Reid, plus DJ Colleen Shannon and DJ Dimitri Hamlin in the mix. What was it like pulling everything together?

BA: Very intense. Very exciting. Lots for me was very new. I basically co-directed and even jumped into the production aspect of the project as well.I learned a lot.

Perry Twins: How did you first get involved with the music industry?

Win Marcinak: I used to dance professionally with the Cleveland and Pittsburgh Ballet. We would go on tour and everyone would encourage me to sing on the long bus rides across the country. I was much shyer then about my voice, but I did love to sing and really tell a story through song. My friends were always telling me I should pursue a recording career. And so, I eventually gave in to my dream!

PT : Who are your musical influences?

WM: My influences are Roxie Music - of course, Andy Bell, George Michael, Aretha Franklin to name a few… I love all the great musician storytellers.

PT: What is it about Bryan Ferry's "Kiss & Tell" that inspired you to reinvent the song in your own unique way?

WM: I have always loved Kiss & Tell as a song. It was one of those Bryan Ferry classics that I always just start singing when I’m in a great mood. It has a smooth sensuality that I connect with on a lot of different levels. There is a legion of us Roxie Music fans out there and I wanted to really pay tribute to them.

PT: How did you come up with the idea to add Gioia Bruno singing “Dirty Cash Money Talks” to some of the remixes?

WM: Well, it was during our remixing phase that my publicist Jim Strzalkowski and I came up with the “out of the box” or “off the wall” idea. Whichever you prefer. I wanted to shake things u p with the remix package and make each remix standout and stand on its own. Gioia, an amazing talent, was already doing backgrounds for me and the lyric connection between the two songs is so strikingly coincidental. It’s almost like a scene out of a movie musical with the two characters going back and forth. It really became almost a societal commentary mash-up when the remixes were finished. We really don’t want to call them mash-ups because both songs were completely resung and not sampled from the originals. So, we prefer the term “Collision Mix” when talking about this remix package. And, with everything going on with the economy today, I think the subject matter of the two songs is so relevant. I am sure the fat cats on Wall Street will really identify with the tracks. Maybe CNN or Suze Orman would like to license the Perry Twins Collision Mix? J

PT: What do you hope to achieve with your career in the near future?

WM: I am actually gearing up to begin working on some new tracks and piecing together a full-length album. I’ll include some rare remixes of my previous club hits like “Too Shy” and “In My Heart” but will also give some new stuff too. The European market seems to suit my style so I’ll be doing more deals overseas. I also hope to keep performing at clubs internationally! At the same time, I am shopping my original songs to TV and Film and have been having some great response with the children’s songs I’ve written. It’s all fun!

Tina Sugandh Breaks Through

Talented Tina Sugandh's hot track, Break Me, is currenlty on The Billboard Club Play Chart and she is definitely breaking in...

Perry Twins: You have a song on the new soundtrack for the movie, The Clique. Did you record the song specifically for the movie?

Tina Sugandh: Yes! This was actually a whole new experience for me. I always write my own songs, and I’ve been fortunate enough to write and sing on quite a few soundtracks now like “Around the World in 80 Days”, “Ice Princess”, “Raise Your Voice” and more. I also wrote the lyrics and melody for the songs on my debut album, “TablaGirl” which will be out in January. With the exception of the Christmas Classic, “White Christmas” which I recorded for the “Christmas With the Kranks” soundtrack, this is the very first time I recorded a song written by someone else. I felt somewhat like I was playing a role when I was singing it. It was a new experience, and it’s a really fun song! It feels great to be on the soundtrack!

PT: Do you base any of the songs that you write on personal experiences?

TS: Yes, absolutely. Most of the songs on my album are from personal experiences. “You Without Me” is about someone that I have loved so deeply every minute of every day of my entire life. “Jao” is about evading negativity and negative people and the importance of a peaceful positive state of mind, which I believe is so important to strive to achieve on a daily basis. “Indestructible” is about me being a powerful woman and knowing that no one can mess with me ever again now that I am self aware of my own worth. I really wanted to use my personal experiences to help self-empower those that connect with my lyrics. The only song on my upcoming album that’s not a reflection of who I am is “HisStory”, which is a song that reminds us of some of the highly valuable and healing messages that Gandhi strived to spread throughout the world.

PT: Who are some some of your favorite musical artists right now?

TS: I like all genres of music and I was raised with two different musical cultures, Indian and “American” which I am very grateful for. I go through these stages of immersing myself in artists from America and then switch to nothing but Bollywood soundtracks. Currently, I am addicted to the Bollywood soundtrack for “Tashan”…it’s simply amazing!

PT: Who are your inspirations when it comes to music?

TS: I’ve been performing with my family, The Sugandh Family, every weekend since I was five years old. Hearing the voices and witnessing the performance styles of my mother, father, and sister, Seema, have been my greatest inspirations. They have encouraged, loved, and supported me wholeheartedly throughout my life, and they are all on my debut album as it would not have been complete without them. For example, you can hear Seema’s voice on the intro of “T.here I.s N.o A.lternative”. Her voice is incredible!

PT: Chris Cox did a great job remixing Break Me. Do you have plans to work with him on an upcoming single?

TS: I would love to! I’m so very grateful to him for doing such an awesome job on the remix. I can’t believe it’s up to #7 this week on the Billboard Dance Charts!

PT: What are some similarities between Bollywood and dance music?

TS: Bollywood is all about the dancing! Personally, my favorite thing about dance music is how a really good beat can make you feel elated. The same thing happens to me with the music of Bollywood when I hear the sound of a dhol, tabla, naal, ghatam, and the tons of other percussion that is used. Also, there is a strong visual element to the word “Bollywood”. When I think of “Bollywood”, I visualize a multitude of vibrant colors, blissful dancing, happiness, joy, and tons of sparkles and glitter. This is similar to what I think of when I visualize the feeling of dancing to an amazing club track. So, I guess the short answer is “rhythm” and “elation”.

PT: Can you tell us a little about your experience filming your new music video?

TS: Shooting the video for “Break Me” was incredible. It was a long and hectic and very exciting day, and there was not a moment to lose focus or rest since we decided to challenge ourselves and do all three scenes in one day! We actually have footage of me having 30 minutes to totally change my makeup and oufit. The footage is of three people-one is tugging at my hair trying to straighten it, the other tugging to pull my fake eyelashes off, and the other tugging at my outfit to pin it correctly-all while I’m trying to keep my head straight in order to quickly shove a bite of lasagna in my mouth! Glamourous, huh? We chose to NOT edit that into the behind-the-scenes look at the video (which is currently on youtube). I am really excited for everyone to see the real video because it really sums up who I am. It shows the “Bollywood” me with all the vibrant colors and Bollywood choreography, and then it shows the “Hollywood” me with more slick colors and a hip-hop style of dance, and then the two worlds collide, and “Tina Sugandh” is defined!

PT: Break Me is currently #7 on the Billboard Club Play Chart and rising. Where can your fans see you perform Break Me live?

TS: Being on stage is home to me since I’ve been on it since I was five, and I can not wait to get out there and tour and perform “Break Me!” Right now I’m doing a few private shows, but my management and label are currently working on touring plans, so please do check my website for updates! PT: What do you have planned for the future and what projects are you currently working on?

TS: My album will be released in January, and so we are gearing up to do everything involved in releasing an album such as a press tour and a performance tour. My management is also looking into offers revolving around other passions of mine such as acting (I am signed to CAA), and starting a clothing line that is a genuine reflection of all that I have grown up with….a true “East meets West” clothing line with colorful and sparkly accessories as well such as bindis, bangles, foot jewelry, hand jewelry, and more! I also have done quite a bit of charity work in the past and and I really look forward to contributing more. I know that the more successful I become, the more I can give back. That is definitely the most fulfilling part of seeing my success grow!

Perry Twins: Who are your musical inspirations?

Kristy Kay: First off I want to say HI, it's been about a year or more since we spoke! Congrats on all of your success with you music and mixing.....Not many of you know this but The Twins danced for me on more than one occasion, they are so talented and NICE!
I was recently asked this same question when I was on the Artist Panel at DJ TIMES Expo in Atlantic City last month. As I sat there with Lady Gaga and Chris Willis, I thought, Who ARE my inspirations? Madonna came to mind first, not only because of the music she continually makes, but also because of how she conducts herself in business. This is a business and it is difficult sometimes to please everyone and conduct yourself with that in mind. I also, grew up listening to a lot of different music, because my whole family are musicians. My Mom was a huge influence on me and Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston because they all sang there butts off. I learned from them and loved to sing along to their cd's.....

PT: How did you first get involved with the music business?

KK: I seemed to always be singing, even in second grade, I had a solo in school.... and I kept doing more and more civic and local LA based talent shows, national anthems etc. The first money I made as a singer was 75.00 for the Men's Association luncheon... lol.... I performed a 15 minute show..... I was 14 years old....My first National commercial was for a soft drink by Shasta called "Spree," and I still have a can of it up on the shelf.. My first record deal came later on Universal records with my single, written by me and Josh Harris, called "Who's that loving you now?"

PT: What inspires you when you are writing songs?

KK: I keep a digital recorder with me at all times. I was inspired just the other day while I was driving and I was fumbling for my recorder to put down a melody/lyrical idea.. I am inspired daily by what people say, what I read, where I travel to, love or the lack of it, feelings that come up inside of me by what I am experiencing at that moment in time.

PT: One of your biggest hits was a cover of the Divinyls' "I Touch Myself". What advice would you give to someone who wanted to record a cover one of your songs? (And yes, we are asking this because the two of us plan on releasing a Kristy Kay tribute album featuring us singing all of your greatest hits)

KK: HAHAHAH You two are so hilarious!!!!! If only that were true..."I Touch Myself," was Lenny B, Featuring Kristy Kay and that was so fun to do..he is so talented.... The advice would be for you to go on with it... I heard the coolest cover of some "Carpenter's" songs on the movie Juno, it was AMAZING!!!! It is the highest form of complement.

PT: Your resume lists one of your skills as "Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound". Where exactly did you learn this amazing skill and would it be possible for you to teach us how do that??

KK: Well all you have to do is give back to people in need and causes that are dear to your heart and YOU will be able to do the same thing!

PT: Lastly, do you still touch yourself when you think about us?

KK: Of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. What hasn't already been said about the Queen of Clubland? Kristine W is an immensely talented performer who shines both on stage and off. We were introduced to her music when One More Try was on the radio back in 1996 and instantly wanted to know more about her and her music. Around the same time Kristine's Land Of The Living album was being released, we found ourselves in Las Vegas looking through a magazine and came across an ad for Kristine W performing nightly at the Las Vegas Hilton. Could this be the same Kristine W whose voice we recently fell in love with? Sure was, and from the opening number of her amazing stage show we knew she was unlike any other performer we have ever seen live. We were so mesmerized by her performance, even the Hilton's casino security guards asking if we were over 21 couldn't keep these underage fans away. Finally meeting Kristine the following year in Boston, we became aware of how special of a person she truly is. Throughout the years of getting to know her, we have shared experiences with her that we will cherish forever including dancing and choreographing with her at The Roxy in New York for New Year's Eve, performing in the middle of the ocean, and working on various projects. Now, 10 years later, as she prepares to release two new albums and a new single, we will be performing together in Boston on October 18th for Dena Cucci's Recovery Celebration. When we DJ that night, we will be sure to rock some of her hits like we always do and we will be dancing with her for a few of her top songs. Also, be on the lookout for a new mix we are doing for her which is something we are very excited about...never say never. In the music business, Kristine is a friend that we have had the longest and we want to share what she had to say when we recently interviewed her for our blog.

Perry Twins: You have inspired so many artists with your music. Are there any artists that have inspired you in your music or in life? Are there any songs in particular that have inspired you?

Kristine W: Donna Summer’s music has always inspired me from the first time I heard it. Diana Ross is a powerful, independent. glamorous woman and a big inspiration. Different artists in different genres have interested me including Al Jarreau along with Jamiroquai – both are very creative. Ashford and Simpson are amazing songwriters and their songs are totally inspiration. “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” – captures a lot of positive thoughts and emotions in a short time - 4 minutes.

PT: How has your successful bout with Leukemia changed your life? How did this experience impact your music?

KW: It makes you realize that you only have so much time and energy so you try to utilize both more effectively, whenever possible.The songs that I have written dur ing and since that time, you want to write songs that have a meaning – all of the words have some depth and different messages. Important to have messages of empowerment – make the music powerful when people can hear a song and feel empowered.

PT: What is the most important thing in your life?

KW: My children.

PT: You've just celebrated your 11th number one dance record. What do you think is the biggest factor in the longevity of your career?

KW: That I love what I do and hopefully that has been and will continue to be infectious.

PT: Looking back to your first #1 hit, Feel What You Want...what was the motivation behind writing that song?

KW: That song was a mixture of a lot of different emotions – questioning why I was working so hard in Las Vegas trying to make a name for myself and then my stepfather (who was one of my best friends) dies so the whole song questions everything – Trying to make sense of the world and how important it is to Feel What You Want It To Be – everyone has their own interpretation. Life is better when you feel your way through it rather than try to go with some sort of strategy. Some people become detached trying to climb whatever ladder they are trying to climb that they lose touch with their emotions and lose their spiritual side. Questions how you spend your time and who you spend it with and what you do with your life.

PT: You've had phenomenal success as a recording artist. Most would be envious. Have you accomplished what you set out to do? When all is said and done, what would you like your musical legacy to be?

KW: Yes – I felt like I was part of a wave of artists who tries to put intelligible messages in their music – messages that people can take something of value away with them when they come off the dance floor. I receive lots of letters from fans telling me how my music has inspired them and helped them through some hard times (from sickness to potential suicide) and that is wonderful. Some people think that a song with a positive message isn’t cool but that is not true. Dark messages do not make people’s lives better. I want to provide a ray of light and be uplifting.Music legacy – That I was a multi-dimensional artist – musician, singer, songwriter – that sings different styles of music – combine dance with jazz and other influences – I hope my diverse styles has helped to give dance music credibility that it doesn’t always get.I hope my music and career is inspiring to up and coming artists – I hope I inspire other artists to write and perform music with a message. For my time on earth, I tried to keep them all dancing.

PT: We hear the video for “The Boss” is unlike any of your previous videos...what is the concept behind it?

KW: “The Boss” is a tribute to Diana Ross and it is a tribute to female impersonators whom I have had fun with and whose showmanship I admire. It also allows you to see the madness of the performance aspect from shows from all over the world and from different walks of life. It shows what an eclectic fan base I have. It brings in a lot of different aspects – the live show, an impersonator that has been performing as Diana Ross for about 20 years and has dedicated his life to her and her music – and brings in more fans – especially younger ones to the music of Diana Ross. It is a homage to people like Diana Ross who inspire me and other performers.

PT: Sounds like fun! Well, you certainly have been a huge inspiration for us and we wish you tremendous success with both your new dance album, "The Power Of Music" and jazz album, "Straight Up With A Twist." We really respect an artist like you that enjoys the styles of music you produce and who embraces the genre.

First off, we have to start off by saying we have two of the most fun, loving (and fun-loving) parents out there. We would definitely not be doing what we love to do today without their support, inspiration, encouragement...the list could go on and on. While most kids probably were told to "be quiet and go to sleep" on school nights by their parents...our parents were the ones making noise. They have been in rock bands since they were in their 20's and while we were growing up, they would practice with their bands in the basement of our house until 2am while we were trying to sleep. Because of them, we grew a strong love for music, all kinds, and grew a love for staying up late and rockin' and rollin' all night long! From A to Z: Amber and Zelma Davis Release 'No More Tears'

After seven consecutive No. 1 dance singles, four albums, and performances throughout the world, Amber joins forces with former C + C Music Factory star Zelma Davis for an impressive cover of No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)! Originally released in 1979 by Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer, the dancefloors of the world get a fresh new version by these talented singers and production and remixes by Pathos v2 and Solar City. We were lucky enough to be able to ask Amber and Zelma a few questions and this is what they had to say about their new release...

Perry Twins: Amber, what is your favorite song by Zelma that she had previously recorded and Zelma, what is your favorite song by Amber that she had previously recorded?

Zelma: Definitely "Sexual". I love that song!

Amber: I would say "Just a touch of Love"

Perry Twins: What was the process of recording "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" like? Were you both in the studio at the same time, along with producer Wolfram (Pathos V2) or did you record separately?

Zelma: We were all in the studio together to lay down the vocals, then Wolfram mixed the song in Germany.

Amber: Yes- we recorded them together and then Wolfram produced the vocals in Germany and then we started producing the music and looked for another remixer which was Solar City in this case.

Perry Twins: What has been your favorite part of working on this awesome new single with each other?

Zelma: My favorite part of working with Amber is learning from her. She has brought me up to speed with the state of the music business and I've learned the art of releasing music independently. I also love receiving positive feedback from our fans.

Amber: First off, Zelma is very sweet and professional in her working manner and I can appreciate that- she also is very natural in improvisation which I love- she is just very talented and deserving. We have fun and get along well and that chemistry ultimately results in a good outcome.
Perry Twins: Seeing how successful this pairing of the two of you has turned out to be, are there plans to release a follow-up single?
Zelma: I would love to release a follow-up single with Amber. We've begun discussing it. Nothing official yet.

Amber: We will see.;)

Perry Twins: Is your upcoming show at The Week, Sao Paulo going to be your first public performance of "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)?

Zelma: Yes, it is and I'm extremely excited about that show.

Amber: Yes- it should be fun.
Perry Twins: Have you started rehearsing for your performance together yet? If so, how has that been and will any videos of your rehearsals be appearing online for your fans to see?
Zelma: We haven't yet, but I'm sure if and when we do, Amber will bring her camera and capture the rehearsals for her blog.

Amber: We will see...;)

Perry Twins: Will "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" be the only song you perform together at your show in Sao Paulo or will your fans be treated to more duets? "If You Could Read My Mind" would be awesome with Zelma singing Jocelyn Enriquez and/or Ultra Nate's parts. And who wouldn't love to hear Amber's take on Freedom Williams' rapping from a C+C Music Factory song!

Zelma: I'd love to hear Amber rap, that would be hilarious. Also, I'd love to give "If You Could Read My Mind" a shot.

Amber: Oh Gawd...lol- I don't think so...I know my boundaries and that is where my strength lies...lol!

Perry Twins: In addition to the continued promotion of your new single and upcoming live performances, what else do we have to look forward to from the two of you?

Zelma: I'm working on a solo album for '09. I'm in the beginning stages, and I'm also working on some features. A single with Havana Funk will be released by Strictly Rhythm/Defected this Fall.

Amber: I already have another single in the making but no times or other info is attached to that yet- first things first.

Perry Twins: Many independent artists and record labels have been very happy to know that you are publicly taking a stand against illegal music sharing. How do you feel the fight against illegal downloads is going? Are you satisfied with the progress that has been made so far and are you optimistic about the future?

Zelma: I'll let Amber answer this one.

Amber: The people who are directly affected are happy about me speaking up and then you have millions of others that are upset about it because it affects their illegal game.
We had tons of feedback from people who are scared of retaliation...it has grown into an underground mafia at this point.
Bottom line is- they just do not get the cycle of it all- I still do not get that intellectual copyrights are okay to steal but not a loaf of bread out of a bakery or people's paychecks??...why not go all the way then?

It is only possible bc it is not policed and in 99,9% of the cases, people do not get any consequences for it. The Internet provides an anonymous veil.
But then I can just laugh out loud in sadness when I hear complaints about not having enough new releases, not enough albums, not enough remixes- well duh- it all comes back to the funds that are not being made back legally by the labels to then further invest into artists and their future releases.

Those sharing platforms are the ones that make our money with their memberships and advertisings and it would not surprise me if some of these bigger labels actually would be in on them at this point. The sense of entitlement and ignorance just makes me sick to my stomach.
It all starts with the artists and talent and the money invested by them or the labels- radio, labels, DJs, clubs, Video channels, remixers, producers, song writers are all affected and ultimately their livelyhoods and families...

I believe it could be resolved- why is it that there is no central institution for all official labels where they all receive an individual code that tracks to their label only which would be embedded into each of their mastered recordings and those codes would have to be force fed by law into those sharing platform systems- so ultimately- if an illegal sharer would then try to upload it illegally to share it- it would flag it right away and it would not be accepted...
Reality is that this way- like many already lost the battle at this point- many of us will not be able to hold on any longer...we are all in this together and until that realization and education is not there, it looks very bleak.

After soaring up the charts with her awesome dance releases, Sunshine, Destination, and Can't Keep It A Secret, Jacinta is back with a new single and several exciting new projects! Having a chance to ask her a few question, this is what she had to say about it all...

Perry Twins: How did you first get involved with music professionally?

Jacinta: I played in an all girl rock band called ‘Maiden Voyage’ playing keyboards and singing backing vocals. We toured extensively in Australia and it made for a brilliant all round ‘apprenticeship’ and I was hooked.

Perry Twins: What inspires you when you’re writing music and performing?

Jacinta: Coming up with something that penetrates my soul, you know, strokes my ‘sweet spot’ whether it’s a lyric or a magic melody. I have a lot of thoughts and ideas I want to share and I get really excited when I think I’ve written something that will resonate and connect with people listening. Performing is one of my most favorite things in the world and there’s nothing better than feeling the energy building and building during a show. Whether on stage or in the studio, it’s all about making the connection for me.

Perry Twins: Can you tell us more about your exciting new project with Amber Dirks and Electrik Pulse, "WILD JAAM"?

Jacinta: Absolutely! Amber and I met on MySpace and then met in person for the first time in Las Vegas at the Billboard Dance Music Summit. We totally hit it off and decided to collaborate and Wild Jaam was born! Amber is one amazing woman. She’s a powerhouse and so so talented. Her vocals are amazing, her writing is top notch and on top of that, she’s a great gal! Our first single DAY IN TIME is remix phase and our video is being edited too. I know we’ll be out there tearing it up together soon live and I truly feel this act is going to go through the roof.

Perry Twins: Wow, this is so exciting.
We're also looking forward to your new single, "Electric Universe". When will it be released and what else can we expect from Jacinta in the near future?

Jacinta: ELECTRIC UNIVERSE is scheduled to be released the first week of September. We’re really excited about it, followed by shows Stateside and in the UK too. If you’ve read my blogs out there, this song is very personal for me. Before the years out, my full album will be released through Chunky Music, Kult Records is releasing I SEE FIRE which is a beautiful song I sang for Cybersutra and course, DAY IN TIME will be out there real soon too.

The muli-talented Paul Brewer of Sweet Feet Music is keeping busy with exciting new projects and we recently had a chance to ask a few questions!

Perry Twins: HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INVOLVED IN PRODUCING MUSIC ?

Paul Brewer: As the son of a preacher man, I was raised on hymns and gospel music. My love of music started with Sundays at the Pentecostal Temple in Philadelphia. If there was a choir event or a play, I was there! In my twenties, I worked at a dance music store called Turntable Mary's in Portland, Oregon. I picked up some part time jobs doing make -up at photo studios so that I could buy audio production books and mixing programs, started teaching myself computer music production. Once I moved to San Francisco, I was finally able to take some audio production courses. And so here we are today . . .

PT: WHO ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

PB: There are really too many. The first album I owned was The Magic of Abba, but my biggest influences would have to be Erasure and Andy Bell, Annie Lennox, Robert Miles, Dead or Alive, Cocteau Twins, Sique Sique Sputnik, Delerium ,Claudia Brucken and, of course, Kristine W !! A huge portion of my music collection is also 90's italio: Cappella, 49ers, Datura. In fact Datura remixed our first single, “I Was Made For Lovin’ You,” which will also be the b-side of our forthcoming release, “Maybe God is Tryin’ to Tell You Somethin’.”

PT: WHAT WAS THE PROCESS OF RECORDING “MAYBE GOD IS TRYIN' TO TELL YOU SOMETHIN'” LIKE?

PB: “Maybe God” was my favorite song from the movie The Color Purple. I could relate to Shug Avery, being a preacher’s kid in the entertainment industry. The recording process started in my basement. My husband at the time built me a vocal booth and Shakti laid down some demo vocals there. It wasn’t until I met up with producer Leo Frappier that we added new life to the track; Shakti came back in the studio and laid down a new lead vocal. Jeanie Tracy heard it when she went in to record some vocals with Leo at his studio, Baysounds, in San Francisco. Long story made short, she agreed to sing backing vocals on the track. And then by a twist of fate - Pepper MaShay signed on as well. Recording with Jeanie and Pepper was amazing, to say the least. great people to work with!

PT: HOW DID THE VIDEO SHOOT FOR "MAYBE GOD IS TRYIN' TO TELL YOU SOMETHIN'” GO, AND WHEN DO WE GET TO SEE IT?

PB: The video shoot was a two-day event with artist and director Evan Cowden. (I helped him previously with The Perry Twins video “Activate My Body” and ALTAR featuring Jeanie Tracy’s “Everybody up" as well.) The first day of filming “Maybe God” involved fashion shots in Arizona. The second day, in San Franscisco, was a lot more intense. Jorge from MAC did make-up on Shakti , Jeanie and Pepper. I put a little makeup on Xaiver Toscano, and he did some dancing for us as well. We filmed at LeftSpace , got tons of looks with the girls, and had a great time catching up with each other. “Maybe God” will be in clubs very soon and making it around LOGO in the very near future. The video premier party will be Sunday Sept 7th @ Bench and Bar in Oakland !

PT: WHAT OTHER UPCOMING PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON?

PB: I’m involved in lots of projects at the moment. Starting a project called "Crayons ForCambodia." My goal is to bring art supplies to the orphans at the Sunrise Village in Cambodia. We have been working on Sweet Feet Music's first remix album “Diva2Diva”.
Some new tracks are on thier way with Silvio Gigante from the UK and a track with 'big daddy' Royal Lush. We are continuing to work with San Francisco’s DIVA Angelique X . That girl can SING!!! Our album will include remixes Leo Frappier and I have produced as 'The Sweet Team'. Some revamped versions of Evan Cowden's hit “No One is to Blame” (coronation dub mix part 2 ) and Tweaka Turner's Space Tranny, Martin Degville, formerly of Sigue Sigue Sputnik, has sent us some of his music and will be remixing a track for his new incarnation: Sputnik 2. 'The Sweet Team vs Julian Marsh' is bringing Vicious Pink's “Fetish,” back to the dance floor. We are collaborating on this project with Julian Marsh and he has already laid down a skeleton track for the remix. Waiting on the original tracks from Abbey Road and once the mixes are finished, clearance from EMI UK. No rest for the wicked! So that’s what is coming up. Perry Twins: How did you first get involved with club promotion?

Paul Nicholls: I was bored with the clubs in LA. For a city in the middle of pop culture I just didn't feel it when I went out! I own a Management and Production Company and wanted to have a cool lounge to bring my clients to so I started one! I made sure it was fun and never felt formal and contrived like a Hotel Bar!!!

PT: What do you think contributes to the success of your highly attended events?

PN: My philosophy of creating a relationship between my patrons and the staff and keeping things fresh. We try to constantly reinvent the nights but at the same time maintain the personal relationship between the patrons and the staff you would find at smaller a local bar...

PT: What are some upcoming events you have planned for club goers?

PN: We have some amazing new nights starting! We will have 2 to 3 very different and exciting new nights by October!

PT: What are your goals for the future?

PN: To create a brand name that is known all over the world and continue to blend my worlds both in Management and Production and Event Production and Promotion.

PT: Who are some of your favorite musical artists?

PN: I like everything! I really appreciate varying singers and styles... I love Deborah Cox! Naturally!

PT: What do you have planned for your birthday weekend?

Perry Twins: When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue music professionally?

Ohsha Kai: In 1999-2000 I was trying to become a professional actress, but couldn't get up enough nerve to make it to most of my auditions, hahaha. In the meantime, I was working as a bartender in a nightclub in Philly and a musician friend who was performing that night convinced me I could sing. He said he could tell by my speaking voice (???)...I was kind of reluctant at first, because I really didn't feel I was a much of a singer. About a week later I was in the studio writing and recording my first track. It was horrible!!! Hahaha, but I fell in love with the process so from then on I've determined to keep moving forward with music and willing to see where it will take me.

PT: Who are your musical influences?

OK: We'll my deepest influence is Gospel. It's what I grew up listening to. Some other major influences have been: Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Anastasia, Eryka Badu, Macy Gray, Mariah Carey...so many...I take a lil' something from everyone!

PT: When will your new single be released?

OK: This month, actually (August 2008). I have 2 singles coming out simultaneously: "whatcha waitin'for" a Mig Tight production and "DJ ON FIRE" produced by Dave Aaron..I'm also working on a project with CAPP Records; a remake of "I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz (remember them??? haha)

PT: Are you working on a full length album?

OK: I believe an album is on the horizon :)

PT: What else would you like to accomplish with your music career that you haven't already?

OK: Wow! Well, I would like to think that I'm just getting started so I welcome every experience on this journey. I've set no expectations but, I'll explore every opportunity...

Adam Barta Is Standing In The Spotlight

Adam Barta is heating up dance floors with his new track with DJ Russ Harris, Standing In The Rain. We had a chance to ask Adam a few questions and this is what the talented Bronx native had to say...

Perry Twins: How did you first get involved with music professionally?

Adam Barta: I started out a few years ago with two different boybands. One was on its way to being signed to Sony, but fell apart due to lack of management and internal structure. However, the experience was very positive for me, learning to work together as a unit and first fully understanding what it took to be a real performer. From that I did some off off Broadway musical theatre, and then wound up catching the attention of some of the club DJs, and hooked up with DJ Steve Right, who remixed my track Dirty Girls. From performing, I managed to meet up with the right contacts, signed with the right management (Shaun Cairo), and from there it was history!

PT: Who are your musical influences?

AB: They really range the gamut from the obvious pop icons - Justin, Rihanna (Robyn Fenty), anything Timbaland touches, to Missy Elliot, Aerosmith, Garbage, Leann Rimes, to Olivia Newton John. I love listening to all kinds of music because it is all inspiring to me. I grew up listening to Madonna and the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC in my teen years, so that heavily influenced the really candy pop sound that sometimes comes through with my stuff. But it's all about evolving and taking it to the next level which a lot of these performers who have lasting appeal really know how to deliver with. I'm really feeling Cyndi Lauper's new track "Into the Nightlife". She's reinvented herself yet again, and has such a great, unique sound that I think it's about time we heard something new from her. So much so that I had to download her album while I was driving in my car just to hear the ringtone! lol

PT: Tell us about your experiences working with Brad Vander Ark of The Verve Pipe, DJ Mike Rizzo, and DJ Russ Harris?

AB: Brad was great to work with and really helped me flesh out some demo tracks that I'm still in the process of developing for my album, or at least to submit as possibilities to my record label. He helped me get my feet wet with everything, and I was really lucky to have had someone so seasoned to work with right off the bat. Mike Rizzo has a history of producing dance music gold, so it was phenomenal to have someone of his caliber produce one of my singles. Working with him was great because he really knew what he wanted from the song and managed to get it out of me. And of course it set the stage for all my success in the past few years. As for Russ, working together with him has been one of the best experiences in my musical career, so much so that we have actually become good friends in the process. He really knows when he wants when he lays stuff down, which I can appreciate. He also has mastered the art of having that unique sound and getting his songs to have really catchy hooks (Drums in the Club, for example). I am really hoping to get to work with him again soon on something for my album, especially considering how well our single is shaping up!

PT: What inspires you when you are recording music and performing on stage?

AB: My mom (and dad who is no longer here), and my own passion to really achieve my dreams. I recently had the honor of doing my first red carpet at an MTV LOGO awards show and it was a dream come true for me. It was inspiring to stand next to people like Leona Lewis and Cyndi Lauper, and made me realize how amazing a feeling it was to truly be accepted and be out there with people who appreciate and love my music.

PT: What are your career goals for the future?

AB: I'd love to release my first album and have a top ten Billboard song or two in the mix, and ultimately maybe win a Grammy. I really want my track with DJ Russ Harris, Standing in the Rain, which was just released on EsNtion Records, to hit top ten in radio... and I'm hopeful it will. Look for the video on MTV LOGO and MTV networks this Fall for sure!

Words can't express how fortunate we are to have Jania in our lives. After moving to LA, we first saw Jania dancing up a storm in a rehearsal for one of her performances. After the rehearsal, we decided to go introduce ourselves and it turned out to be one of the best things we have done. Quickly becoming friends with Jania and dancing in her performances, we realized how special she was both as an entertainer and as a person in general. Fast forward four years to 2007 when we are planning on releasing our debut single as writers and producers, and the first person that comes to mind is Jania. This triple threat had the energy and enthusiasm that the two of us and Quinn Coleman were looking for to bring Activate My Body to life! Not only is Jania a super talented singer and dancer, she also has a dynamic personality that you just can't get enough of!

Perry Twins: How did you first get involved with music?

Jania: My mother got me involved in music. She trained me to sing in harmonies, she helped me discover and polish my skills, then prepared me for auditions and performances! She is a singer herself, so she was very strict on me...because she knew the challenges and wanted me to be the best that I could be.

Perry Twins: What inspires you when you are creating music?

Jania: So many different things, people, and situations inspire me. Normally, I will create the track with the producer then I go home and listen to the music over and over and then I just start singing and coming up with melodies...lyrics follow and then I arrange the vocals. My songs can be about whatever I feel ...love ..heartbreak ...dancing ...stalking ...lol..Whatever I'm feeling inside that moment!

Perry Twins: What's usually going through your head when you're performing on stage?

Jania: I'm focused on the crowd.. initially. I'm thinking of how I can truly ENTERTAIN! I'm from L.A. and I know they are a very hard audience to impress, so I take that into consideration before I even step foot on stage. Any stage! I tailor my performances to be high energy with singing and dancing. I try to rehearse a lot so that I don't have to think too much about ME, my next note, my next step...I want to already know that. When it's showtime it's all about giving the audience an exciting show...and sometimes I'm a bit nervous, but that all goes away when the music starts!

Perry Twins: What projects are you currently working on?

Jania: I'm working with Hector Fonseca on his new project that he's creating. I've also been writing A LOT for my own project! So, I'm pretty excited about the future!

Perry Twins: What are your goals for your career in the future?

Jania: My goal is pretty easy. I just want to always grow and become better at my craft. I'm a very hard worker and I love being open to new ideas and sounds. I love learning. I've been blessed to work with some great people and they've taught me how to expand on my talents. My goal is to have a career that is exciting and creative.....and that lasts for a looooong time!

Perry Twins: How did you first start working in the music industry professionally?

Amber Dirks: What’s good The Perry Twins, Doug and Derek (The Handsome Twins..watch out now)? Thank You so much for giving me an opportunity to share a little myself to your listeners. I appreciate/respect you both and your Talents that you provide for all to enjoy.

I started working professionally in the Music Industry18 years ago and I was the lead singer of a cover R&B band. Although I was young (and still LOL) I was allowed to sing in clubs. It was an Awesome experience and that’s when I realized that this was something that I wanted to pursue on a more professional scale.

PT: Who are your musical influences?

AD: Oh WOW, that is a hard question as there are so many talented Artists whom I absolutely admire..umm to name a few, but not limited to (love the disclaimer LOL) Donna Summer (Love her new Album BTW..Go Donna!!), Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, Evelyn “Champagne” King (Love her new Single too), Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Toni Braxton, Sister Sledge..oh man there are so Many I can go on until eternity.

PT: When did you form your group Power 2 Move with Electrik Pulse?

AD: Themi Charalambous is AKA Electrik Pulse (www.myspace.com/electrikpulse1 ) formed Power 2 Move (www.myspace.com/power2move ) in November 2006.
It all started when we completed the track entitled "Your Body" Electrik Pulse featuring Amber Dirks and it was picked up and signed by Amathus Music which is a leading dance music label.
After a while we decided to form our own group to showcase both of our talents as a producer/vocalist/writing team. We came up with the name Power 2 Move (Creating music that moves you) the rest is history we started working on songs and before we knew it we were recording and finishing a track a week. The chemistry and flow was all there.
After finishing our 4th track Amathus Music had heard about what we were doing and signed all 4 tracks and put out the first Power 2 Move Ep titled "Passions" and all tracks are available for instant download on every major download site now. We are currently in the middle of finishing up a full album and are very excited. We have done all this amazing creating together and we have never once met face to face yet we talk almost every day on the phone. Now if that's not musical chemistry, what is?
To this day..Themi and I have yet to met each other face to face and are still creating wonderful works together.

PT: How has the experience of creating hit songs such as "All Through The Night", "Without You", "You're The One" and "My Life" been?

AD: Surreal. I am just so Thankful that people are feeling our musical vibe. Having the Passion of song is one that is an abundance of musical bliss and being able to express it through your soul is indescribable. The thought of being respected by your peers and the outflow of love from Fans and Peers alike is a Wonderful/Blessed feeling. In regards to the song “My Life”, that song was written by Chris “The Greek” Panaghi and he featured my vocals on that awesome track and I am ever so humbled that he asked if I would sing it..Thank You Chris.

PT: What inspires you when you are creating music and performing on stage?

AD: Not trying to sound cliché, but it is definitely the Love Of Music. Writing songs is a wonderful challenge for my soul and I hope that it exudes from my voice. When I get a track from Themi, it’s easy to Love the flow of the beats.

Performance is a way for me to show my inner feelings of unconditional Love that I have for my craft, which I never take for granted as I feel that I am always learning to bring my vocals to another level. People have often told me that I become so involved with my performance that to them it’s like viewing my inner soul work through my body LOLJ That’s so wonderful. I am ever so humbled by the appreciation that I get from People.

PT: What upcoming projects are you working on?

AD: Busy, Busy, Busy..did I mention BUSY??? LOL..besides having a young Family.. working on “Power 2 Move” material..I just returned from Austin, TX working on new material, photo shoot and taping of a music video as I have been blessed to work with a Wonderful and Beautiful talented Artist by the name of Jacinta (www.myspace.com/jacinta ) with whom is a triple Billboard Dance Music Charting Artist and was nominated this year for Best Breakthrough Artist (Solo) at the International Dance Music Awards. Together, Themi, Colin (Barnsey), Jacinta and I have created “Wild Jaam” (www.myspace.com/jaammusic ) and will be releasing material soon as well as a video. Total Pop Star Crowns DaNica from Red Lion, PA Season One WinnerHollywood, CA - July 1, 2008. After months of arduous online singing challenges, millions of votes and weeks of intense studio work, a true Total Pop Star has been born. On Sunday, June 29th, Total Pop Star, a groundbreaking online singing competition, announced their first season's winner to be DaNica (pronounced DaNēka) from Red Lion, PA. Erin Hamilton's latest track, Control Yourself, is flying up the Billboard Club Play Chart and is this week's Power Pick! Her previous single, The Flame '08, hit the #1 spot. Having recentlty interviewed Erin, it's clear that she is back and taking control!

Perry Twins: How did you first get involved with dance music?

Erin Hamilton: TOTALLY by accident!! Was performing mostly with a band doing rock and blues music... and BAM.. met Scott Anderson (Solar City).

PT: A few of your hit dance singles are fresh, creative covers of pop/rock songs. How did you go about choosing which songs you would reinvent for the dance floors?

EH: DREAMWEAVER came about while i was driving home from yoga one day.. and heard it on the radio. I wanted to do a rock cover of it... and my husband at the time introduced me to Scott.. and he suggested it be a dance tune... I didn't even know dance music was still around.. but, I said what the hell.. lets go for it!! The FLAME was an idea brought to me by Ralphi Rosario and DJ Abel.... still.. not hearing how it could be made into a dance song. I just went with it, and was thrilled with the results. I GOT THE MUSIC IN ME was my idea to do after some difficult times.. and I just loved the Kiki Dee version, and wanted to try my own spin on it.

PT: What can we expect from your upcoming album?

EH: be patient.... it will be a little while.. but more fun than ever.. i can promise you that.. and one cover that will blow your socks off!!

PT: Do you perform non-dance versions of your dance hits during your rock and unplugged live shows such as your recent appearance at "Lilith Unfair"?

EH: yes... and it's a lot of fun to do it that way.. just another side.. one i'd like to explore further~~

Pleasure Center has been busting out club tracks for years and their lastest, Love's A Basic Freedom, is rockin' the dancefloors of summer. We recently had a chance to catch up with Pleasure Center's Cory Conley...and this is what he had to say...

Perry Twins: When did you first start writing and producing music?

Cory Conley: I started in the early 90's. I had a cheap little keyboard and instead of learning to play it properly I'd listen to Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, the Cure - a lot of synth heavy pop and alternative music of the time, and play along with it. It was easy for me to pick out the right notes and figure out chords, and I'd challenge myself to write additional new synth hooks and play along. That led pretty quickly to me writing original songs, but my first "ah-ha!" moment with dance music came when I started going to clubs that were playing house music, and spending way too much time in a dark leather bar that played really great European techno! I realized then that I wanted to write dance music and get it heard.

PT: How did you meet your partner in crime Jennifer Rivers?

CC: I found Jennifer passed out at a nighclub. I had the step over her to get to the bar! No, not really - actually as soon as I had some songs written I put an ad in a local music rag for a vocalist and she was one of the people who responded. She was, by far, the best vocalist who applied. Little did I realize that we'd become great friends too! She'd go to gay bars dancing with me and I'd go to jazz clubs with her. We were both interested in music and men - in that order! Somehow we managed to pull together our first demo during that time.

PT: What is the process of recording new songs like with Jennifer living in Las Vegas and you in Boston?

CC: Well, that was actually a source of concern for me at first. Obviously, when Jennifer lived in Boston, where I am based, it was easy for us to record. Later she moved to New York and she'd come up on a bus for a night or two and we'd record. When she fell in love and moved to Las Vegas I thought, okay - that's it - I need a new vocalist. But we put technology to work, and we book studio time in Vegas and they patch me in so I can supervise the session by phone. I think it works because Jennifer and I know each other so well - she is very astute about knowing what I'm going after and I know her voice well enough to know what she's capable of. We can actually record very quickly. After I hang up, Jennifer and the engineer put the vocals on a disk and she drops it in the mail for me. Within a couple of days I'm editing her vocals!

PT: Your new single "Love's A Basic Freedom" is this year's big Pride anthem. Will you be releasing a video for this song?

CC: I hope so! We did a video for our last single, "You've Got It All Wrong", and it got played all over the place. We actually had a director set up and ideas in place for "Love's a Basic Freedom" but we called it off at the last minute. The director is a friend of mine and there was a weird vibe going on and we didn't want it to ruin our friendship. Thanks to sites like YouTube and the whole idea of viral videos I think you have a much larger window of opportunity than you used to with these things. It's not imperitive that you have a video out right away. In fact, a good video can potentially expose a song to a whole new audience even years after the song is first released, so I'm really in no hurry. I have this fantasy of working with flash animators and other visual artists during the course of Pleasure Center and really do some innovative stuff. Video artists - contact me!

PT: With four singles released so far, is there a full length Pleasure Center album on the horizon?

CC: Well, we certainly have enough material for one! It would be a combination of "best of" and probably our two or three next planned single releases, plus a few things we have that we love but will probably never be released as singles. I don't know though, I'm not sold that the demand is out there for albums from dance artists.

PT: Is there anything else you're working on that you would like to mention?

CC: We're going to be releasing more remixes of "Love's a Basic Freedom" through the end of the Summer, then in the late Fall we'll probably be putting out a little "bonus" track to keep us on people's minds until our next big release next Spring. It's really important to keep plugging away and to keep yourself on people's minds!

In addition to DJ'ing all around the country, she has released awesome original creations and has turned out super hot remixes. As she prepares for RI Pride events with Chris Harris, we had a chance to catch up with our good friend, Dena...

Perry Twins: You just spun Boston Pride at a huge block party and you then reunited with Chris Cox for the closing Pride party. How did the events go?

Dena: This year was amazing! There was an amazing turnout for the block party! at least 10,000 people! Chris Cox was amazing as always...and this year...Tracy Young, Abel, Escape, Joe Bermudez, Bobby Shaw and Jipsta were at the closing party. It was a great weekend!

Perry Twins: Your hometown pride is happening this weekend in Rhode Island. Are you looking forward to it?

Dena: YES! I am spinning at Girl Spot on Saturday night and also at the first ever ChrisHarrispresents.com Sunday block party!

Perry Twins: We're excited to see so many of your awesome remixes released recently (E.G. Daily, Jipsta, Erin Hamilton, etc.). What's your process in the studio when remixing a song?

Dena: I listen to the vocal and lay it over a drum beat. Then I layer percussion and a bassline. the last thing I do is add a synth and cymbals. The vocals really decide the energy of my remix.

Perry Twins: You always have such great rhythms in your productions which may come from you having been a drummer.

How did you make the transition from being a drummer in a band to dj'ing and producing?

Dena: It just happened! I remember being fascinated with mixing and matching beats. I quit drumming because it wasn't fun anymore due to band issues. From that point on, I redirected my energy to dj-ing. I loved it then and I love it now!!!!!!!!!!!

Perry Twins: What are some of your upcoming projects we can look forward to?

Dena: I just finished a remix for Jonat Vega called "Work Me" on HMSP records. I have another remix coming out in a few weeks of a remix of an old Bryan Ferry song called "Kiss and Tell" by Win, A Clint Crisher Remix of "Run Baby Run" and I'm currently working on a mix for Kate Perry, "I Kissed A Girl".

Rachel Panay is The Real Thing

The talented, Rachel Panay, is back to clubland and we still believe she's got it going on!

Perry Twins: Congratulations on the success of your new single "Repeat Performance". How did you go about writing your latest hit? Is it from your own personal experience?

Rachel Panay: Haha! Its so funny because with this particular song, that seems to be the burning question! lol! But jokes aside, frankly, yes! I met someone who was about to move overseas so we had this really short window of time to "enjoy getting to know each other" so to speak. So as the 1st verse goes, "Tonight when I see you know know I'm gonna need you to do what you did to me last night." I wrote the song as I was getting ready to go out with him that very night. Literally I came out of the shower & I had some instrumental music playing, & the words and melody of the 1st verse just came to me. Then as I started writing the hook/chorus "repeat performance, a one man show" came to mind & I knew I had a cool concept that would enable me to use the analogy of the stage and an amazing performance that is so good the audience demands one more! In the chorus I say, "Its a repeat performance, by popular demand, but it was only meant to be a one night stand". And its true isn't it, that there are one night stands that remain just that one night. And THEN there are one night stands that turn into affairs that continue for a long while or even relationships! In my personal case though I would have to call it an affair NOT a relationship!

PT: "Repeat Performance" just became a breakout on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play Chart and Donna Summer's new single also just debuted on the chart. Is this the first time that you've been climbing the charts at the same time as one of your biggest musical influences?

RP: Oh, good question! Yes, I am VERY "vocal" about the fact that I adore & admire Donna Summer's sound above all other vocalists in this Dance genre. And in fact we all know we wouldn't be here were it not for her & her team of amazing writers & producers back in the day that made those incredible records! And now she continues today to write & sing amazing records! As I recall, my singles "Back to Love" which was #2 on Billboard back in 2004 and "The Real Thing" which was #6 in 2007, were on charting during the time when Ms. Summer also had a single on the chart. And really that is an interesting phenomena of the Billboard Club Play chart.....that our songs at any given time are sitting on the chart in the company of major label artists like her, or Madonna, or Seal, or Beyonce!

PT: Your album "Back To Love" is one of the best albums from the past year and in addition to "Repeat Performance", it features your singles "The Real Thing", "It's Got To Be Love", "I Still Believe", "The Walk Of Shame", "Back To Love" and many more. Which are your favorite songs from the album to sing in your sassy live performances?

RP: Aw, thank you for calling my performances "sassy"! haha! I love it! You know what? Since "Repeat Performance" has become a part of my live repertoire, its my new & favored baby, the one I enjoy the most for now. HOWEVER recently, at a show in my hometown of DC, the DJ accidentally played "The Real Thing" instead of "Repeat Performance" as planned & I considered stopping the track & making him play the correct one BUT I found so many people in the audience singing it & really getting into it so I just felt it was the right thing to go with the flow & I had so MUCH fun with it. But I think that really one of the most powerful & poignant songs of the ones you mentioned is "I Still Believe" because its about hope that never dies & that's an emotion or character quality that goes WAY beyond romance & is about us always as people who have the will to go on living even after experiencing heartbreak, never losing hope that after the rain falls, the sun will come out eventually. So I notice when the song begins in the very first second, that something suddenly comes over the faces of the audience. I see this sweetness light up their expressions & by the end of the song everyone's singing along and feeling this great sense of optimism. With that energy, how can it not be one of my favorites to perform live?!

PT: You always put on excellent live shows and we can't wait to see you perform again. Where are some of your upcoming shows and are you working on any other new projects that we can look forward to?

RP: Oh, thank you so much! That means a lot coming from you guys! : ) You may or may not know that I have started something for my jazz/acoustic side called The Rachel Panay Project! Its comprised of live piano, acoustic bass, & drums. So that's something I am investing a lot of time and energy into launching. Most immediately though I have Dance music shows coming in my new hometown of NYC, my original hometown of DC & Memphis where I am so excited to see Graceland during my two day stay for their Pride festival. I also have a TON of new writing & recording projects that are keeping me extremely busy working long distance with producers spanning from Boston to LA to France to Scotland! As you know, writing is as much a passion of mine as the performing & I have been fortunate to be approached with co-writing projects from some amazingly talented guys & its just exciting to have a lot of different sounds to work with. You know, for each track I am sent, I feel an opportunity to explore another character, like an actress trying on different roles that are all facets of her own being. Its a chance to excavate parts of my own being with each new writing project. That's an amazing thing about Dance music....that there are so few strict rules in place that you would find in Top 40 formula's. I love that we can do whatever we feel inspired to do. To me Dance music is the Jazz of our generation!

This Sunday, May 4, we are "twinning" Click Sundays at dek23 in Miami Beach for the record and video release of Alan T and Lula's new club track, There Is Only One. From the man that let the world know "fierceness is always welcome" comes these answers to our questions...

Perry Twins : You have been recording hot club tracks for the past ten years, how did you first become involved with recording music?

Alan T: Via a message left on an answering machine.

Perry Twins: How do you feel the club scene has changed between 1998 and 2008?

Alan T: Lord that will require the Perry Twins taking me to dinner while in Miami! ☺

Perry Twins: It's a date! Can you explain the writing and recording process for your new single with Lula, There Is Only One? It's an awesome collaboration! Are there any artists you would like to collaborate with?

Alan T: She recorded her parts in Vienna Austria and I did mine in Miami Then Eddie Cumana put the battle together to a beat! A Future collaboration with Franklin Fuentes is first and foremost on the list! I adore Franklin!

Perry Twins: When recording your songs, is there a rigid outline with lyrics already written out or do you also ad lib in the studio?

Alan T: Depends on the producer, but myself am never adherent to any given formula whatsoever.

Perry Twins: What's the strangest situation that you've ever experienced at "The Door"?

Alan T: Male genetalia in lue of cover charge payment-which was fine.

Perry Twins: What are some of your favorite all time club songs and what are some current ones that you are currently really into?

Alan T: Love a lot of true classic disco songs, italo house, as many who know me can attest...currently totally feeling Stephan Grondins’ mix of Ceevox’s Believe In We-and am very excited about That Kid Chris’ mix of Bostich-the
legendary Yello record.

Perry Twins: When out of the clubs, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Alan T: Cooking gardening the beach and just driving in my vintage benz convertible.

Perry Twins: What are you most proud of so far in your career and your life in general?

Alan T: Everything to date-3 degeees of architecture from prestigious institutions of academia, not to mention having worked with many of house musics more renowned heroes.

Perry Twins: We are really looking forward to your record and video release party for There Is Only One at Click! What do you have in store for the night? Do you already have your outfit picked out?

Alan T: My new bullhorn , Roxx’s intro for the video’s introduction and a custom for the occasion Designer Mike Lee jumpsuit.

Perry Twins: Oh, we were told our Mike Lee jumpsuits were one of a kind custom for the occasion..I guess we will be triplets. Do you have any upcoming projects that you want to mention?

Alan T: A collaboration with that kid chris entitled damage control on tkc music, one with /Erick Morillo, a track entitled -Nip Tuck/ surgically Implanted with Cedric Gervais and to be included on his next LP-Electricka Salsa with William Umana and a Rosabel collaboration to name a few of many.
